Two women have appeared in court accused with the stabbing death of a rugby player outside a nightclub in Cornwall.
Tia Taylor, 21, of Bodmin’s Northey Road, and Chelsea Powell, 22, of Bodmin’s Granny’s Green, appeared in Truro Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 20.
At 3.15 a.m. on April 30, police were called to Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road in Bodmin, Cornwall, to investigate an alleged stabbing.
Mr Allen died at the spot, while seven other persons were transported to the hospital with critical injuries.
Mr. Allen, known to family and friends as Mike or ‘Chabel,’ had recently relocated to Bodmin, and the rugby club where he played has been transformed into a shrine filled with flowers and images of him.
His family had previously written a statement in his honor, saying, ‘Mike was simply a much-loved son, brother, grandson, and uncle who adored his dogs.’
They also expressed gratitude to the local people for their assistance.
Bodmin RFC said, ‘His humour and kindness has made an impact on us all, and we will miss him terribly.’
Taylor and Powell will stay in detention until their court appearance tomorrow in connection with Allen’s death.
Jake Hill, 24, of Jubilee Terrace, Bodmin, was originally charged with one crime of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and two offences of Section 18 intent to cause grievous bodily injury.
He is currently being imprisoned on remand and will be tried in November at Truro Crown Court.
Devon and Cornwall Police issued the following statement today: ‘We advise the public not to speculate on social media in reference to this subject due to the ongoing criminal processes.’
