The three children and three adults who were shot and killed at Nashville’s The Covenant School have been identified.
The students who were murdered on Monday, March 27, were all nine years old. Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney were identified.
Cynthia Peak, 61, Mike Hill, 61, and Katherine Koonce, 60, were the three adults killed.
The Covenant School issued a statement saying, “Our community is heartbroken.” “We are in shock and grieving tremendous loss as a result of the terror that shattered our school and church.” We are committed to loving our students, families, faculty, and staff while also beginning the healing process.”
According to a friend, Mike Hill, 61, was a custodian at the school for more than 13 years.
According to Nashville authorities, Cynthia Peak, 61, was a substitute teacher at the school.
According to the Covenant School’s website, Katherine Koonce, 60, was the principal.
According to John Drake, the chief of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the shooter, Audrey E. Hale, entered the building by firing through a side door, armed with two assault-style weapons and a handgun, and went to the second floor, firing shots before being killed by police. According to Chief Drake, the assailant was “once a student” at the school.
The shooter was seen driving up to the school in a Honda Fit, according to surveillance video released by police on Monday night. Two sets of glass doors shatter in the clip as bullets enter the building through the broken glass.
In recent months, the shooter, who was born female, began identifying as male.
