According to fresh court records revealed on Friday, April 14, Nima Momeni, the 38-year-old founder of the software company Expand IT, stabbed CashApp creator Bob Lee through the heart after the two argued over the suspect’s sister and whether they were acting in a “inappropriate” manner.
Before Lee was assassinated in the early hours of April 4 in San Francisco, according to police, Momeni and the dead tech entrepreneur spoke on the phone about his sister, Khazar Momeni, who is married to someone else.
Police were informed by an alleged witness that Nima asked Lee about his sister and inquired as to whether she was “doing drugs or anything inappropriate.”
Nima was reassured by Lee, 43, that nothing improper had taken place.
The relationship between Lee and Khazar, who was not identified in the court filings, was not further discussed by the police.
According to the witness, it was not obvious whether Lee and Khazar had a “intimate relationship.”
Nima allegedly drove Lee to a “dark and secluded area” of San Francisco that evening and then used a kitchen knife to stab Lee in the heart.
According to authorities, Khazar brought the knife from his house, proving that the murder was “planned and deliberate.”
Around the time of Lee’s murder, according to the records, Khazar texted Lee to see how he was doing.
I know that Nima hit you quite hard, so I just wanted to make sure you’re doing okay, she wrote.
And thank you for handling it in such a gentlemanly manner. Khazar wrote to Lee, “Love you Selfish pricks.
At the time of his murder, Lee was living in Florida with his father and was estranged from his wife, with whom he shared two young kids.
Nima was detained on April 13 in the morning, and prosecutors intend to prosecute him with murder. He will be charged on April 25 and might spend more than 20 years in jail if found guilty.
At 2:03 a.m., Lee and Nima are captured on video leaving the sister’s apartment and entering the alleged murderer’s white BMW.
In an argument about his sister, a tech executive fatally stabbed the inventor of Cash App.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, Khazar appeared in court before her brother, Nima Momeni.
According to the authorities, the footage also depicts the two standing in front of the BMW for almost five minutes in a deserted area of the affluent Rincon Hills community.
Unable to see faces in the footage, additional security cameras appear to capture Lee leaving the scene hurt and the attacker moving close to where the murder weapon was found.
Police allege that the white BMW then accelerated away.
