Miss Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, media assistant to the commissioner for women affairs and social welfare, who revealed this, said the victim was recovering at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, where the commissioner, Mrs Ify Obinabo, paid her a visit.
“The incident was discovered after the survivor raised the alarm on Thursday,” Ikeanyionwu said. One of her employees, along with two other men, stampeded her in her home and severed her genital organs, including her nipple, ear, and fingers, among other things.
“The culprit, Onyebuchi Ezeh, who was later apprehended, confessed that they were sent by a native doctor to obtain the 72-year-old woman’s organs in order to become billionaires.”
“The perpetrator is from Abakaliki in Ebonyi state and usually assists the victim in cutting palm trees. He was said to have explained that they did the act because they wanted to get rich, based on the native doctor’s assurances,” Ikeanyionwu said.
Hon Obinabo was also quoted as expressing sadness over the development and assuring that other people involved in the crime would be apprehended and charged in court.
The perpetrator is said to be being held at the Anambra State Police Command’s State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka and will be arraigned soon before the Children and Gender Based Violence Magistrate Court in Awka.
