A family of ten was killed in a car accident on the Kaduna-Kachia highway on their way back from a wedding in Kano State.
The tragic accident occurred near Makyelli, near Idon, on their way to Kachia town around 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 5.

According to reports, the vehicle collided with a lorry transporting firewood.
The victims were all male family members.
Isiyaku Musa Kachia, a resident of Kachia town who knows some of the victims, told Daily Trust that they were all from Kano but lived in Kachia town, Kaduna State.
“I recognize the majority of them. They traveled to Kano for a wedding, but on their way back to Kachia, the Golf car they were traveling in collided with a lorry transporting firewood, and all of them died on the spot,” he said.
According to him, they were buried in Kachia on Monday, March 6, according to Islamic rites.
Zubairu Mato, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), confirmed the incident, attributing the accident to a dangerous overtake that resulted in the driver losing control.

The Gulf car, he claims, was overloaded at the time of the accident.
He stated that the victims included eight adults and two children.
