According to authorities, seven people were murdered and at least four others were injured after a motorist crashed his SUV into a gathering of pedestrians waiting for a bus outside a migrant and homeless center in Brownsville, Texas.
According to Brownsville Police Lt. Martin Sandoval, the driver who flipped his Range Rover after mowing down the victims on the sidewalk outside the Ozanam Center has been arrested for reckless driving, and more charges are expected to be filed. Sandoval informed local media that the crash appeared to be planned.
A social media video of the incident shows the vehicle speeding up as it veers onto the sidewalk, with the majority of the apparent victims unable to move out of the way. The car then rolls over, sending victims flying in all directions.

Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez stated that the deceased were “migrants who sheltered overnight at the Ozonam center.” While many people immediately labeled the incident a “hate crime,” early reports indicate that the driver was likewise Hispanic.
