The cause of Aaron Carter’s death has been discovered.
Carter was discovered dead in a bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California, on November 5. He was 34 years old at the time.
His autopsy report also notes that he was “unresponsive” and had no “life-threatening traumatic injuries” at the time of his death. He was declared dead at the site.
According to a copy of his autopsy report revealed on Tuesday, April 18, the late musician died from drowning and the effects of difluoroethane, a flammable gas commonly used as the propellant in cans of pressurised air, and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.

According to the autopsy, the cause of death was accidental.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s findings, Carter was “submerged” in his bathtub after “inhalation of compressed gas and intake of alprazolam.”
Difluoroethane is a “colourless, odourless gas” that causes “frostbite” and can be “easily ignited.” Alprazolam, on the other hand, is a drug that comes in tablet form and is occasionally used to treat “depression” and anxiety of open spaces.
Carter’s housekeeper discovered his dead and was “yelling” when she dialled 911 for assistance.
Jane Carter, the “I Want Candy” singer’s mother, had refused to believe her son died of an accidental overdose and demanded a “real investigation” into his death.
“They never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past,” she posted on Facebook in March, accompanied photos of Aaron’s death scene (seen below).

Aaron has been in the business for decades, rising to popularity in the late 1990s.
He was also the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.
On November 6, Nick, 42, paid tribute to his late sibling on Instagram, uploading a slideshow of old photographs of them together.
“Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never faded,” the singer of “I Want It That Way” wrote.
“I’ve always hoped that he’d someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”
