The Rivers State Police Command has arrested John Danjuma, a security guard who allegedly murdered his former employer to death with a cutlass.

The deceased, named as Boma Amaomu-Jumbo, a former Director of Administration at UPTH, was murdered by the suspect on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at her apartment at Dandison Close, off Amaechi Drive, in the GRA, Port Harcourt.

Danjuma was previously arrested and is currently on trial for allegedly taking $10,000 from the deceased.

Despite his denial of taking the money, he was said to have been given bail and the matter was adjourned to a later date for further hearing.

The suspect is shown being interviewed by police officers at the State Criminal and Investigation Department in Port Harcourt in a video that has gone viral on the internet.

According to the suspect, he broke into his former boss’s home in the early morning hours before the case’s next court hearing on Friday, May 12, 2023.

After breaking into the property, he damaged the kitchen protector to get entry to the main building and hide himself there to complete his diabolical plan.

The security guy then grabbed a machete from the kitchen, waited until it started raining, then went into one of the rooms and chopped his old boss to death.

He attempted to flee after completing the crime by stealing some of her jewelry.

However, his luck ran out when neighbors noticed blood spots all over his body as he was exiting the building.

During questioning, Danjuma admitted to the crime, alleging that the woman accused him of stealing $10,000 from her.

“Me and she are having problems, and this woman is prosecuting me in court, and our case is scheduled to be heard tomorrow.” They charge me with stealing $10,000. “However, I did not steal the money,” he stated.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, acknowledged the incident and the arrest of Danjuma, but added that the matter was still being examined.

“The issue has been reported to the command. “The suspect was apprehended, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department,” she said.
