Lil Wayne, one of the best rappers of all time, has boldly stated that no musician can compete with him on the Versus stage.
The American rapper revealed the artist he would like to battle against in a Verzuz matchup in an interview with Rolling Stone. When asked who he wants to fight, the rapper delivered an unusual response.
“I was intrigued by Mixtape Weezy taking on Lil Wayne. That would have been insane,” Wayne explained.
“So you’d be onstage by yourself?” said the journalist.
“Yeah. What additional artists come to mind?” Wayne fired back. “There’s no other artist on the stage who can stand next to me, bro.” I apologize.”
Aside from Jay-Z, fans have been waiting for Lil Wayne to compete in a Verzuz match. The question is, who would be a worthy opponent for him?
Wiz Khalifa threw his hat into the ring in December 2022, saying he’d like to face Lil Wayne in a Verzuz battle.
“I think that would be fun,” Wiz said in an interview with DJ Superstar Jay. “Because Wayne is a fantastic performer.” Me and him performing bangers back and forth. That would be difficult. And we both smoke a lot of cannabis. That sounds more like a concert to me than a Verzuz.”
