Princess Diana’s jewellery to go on sale for £10m to raise money for Ukraine

According to the Telegraph UK, a diamond and pearl necklace and earring set reputedly given to the late Princess of Wales, Princess Diana, by Dodi Al-Fayed, will be auctioned off next month for up to £10 million.

Diana wore the necklace to the Royal Albert Hall gala dinner for Swan Lake, her final public engagement before her death in 1997.

According to The Telegraph, the set has been owned by a Ukrainian family since 2008.

This is considered to be the first public sale of Diana’s privately owned jewellery. When she was a member of the royal family, the Crown loaned her the majority of the jewellery she wore.

The jewellery will be on display in London before going up for sale in New York next month.

Princess Diana’s jewellery will be auctioned off for $10 million to benefit Ukraine.

‘While many accomplished figures fade from view, Princess Diana is as bright today as she was when she was the most admired lady on the planet,’ said Arlan Ettinger, president of Guernsey’s Auctioneers.

‘The Swan Lake Suite was custom-made for her. She was involved in the design process.

‘It is thought to be the only piece of jewellery that has ever been sold, making it extremely valuable.

‘There are many people who have described it as priceless but we have given it a very broad estimate.’
