The Roman Forest Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Raven Yates, who is charged with two counts of abandoning/endangering a child with the intent to return, according to the department.
On Nov. 14, police said they received a phone call from the 12-year-concerned old’s father, who reported that the two children had been home alone since Sept. 28, 2022.
The siblings allegedly had limited access to food and medicine during the weeks they were alone at home.
According to police, the father, who lived and worked in California, immediately flew to Texas. He told police that Yates had been seen in Mobile, Alabama, without the children by his ex-wife, according to ABC News.
After his daughter asked him to send them food on a regular basis, he realized the children had been left at home alone.
The father called the cops and met them at the house where the two kids were staying.
There was no food on the shelves or in the refrigerator, but the kids appeared to be in good health.
I suppose the 12-year-old was quite resourceful. But she shouldn’t have had to do that, according to police.
According to police, the children were not enrolled in school.
According to police, the two children are safe with their grandmother in Alabama.
Investigators discovered that Yates had reported a third, 14-year-old child had run away from home weeks before she abandoned her children.
The child made it to their grandmother’s house as well.
Yates is believed to be still in the Mobile area, according to police. The Roman Forest Police Department is assisting the Mobile Police Department with the investigation.
Yates has not been found since an arrest warrant was issued on December 6.
