A man named John Zimunya was arrested at Mutare Girls’ High School in Zimbabwe after being caught masturbating with a charm called “mubobobo.”

The girls reported the incident, and the school’s caretakers apprehended Zimunya, who was dressed scantily in a heavy winter morning gown and a T-shirt with no other clothes.
Mubobobo is a Zimbabwean term for a type of traditional magic or witchcraft that is said to allow a person to have sex with another person without their consent or knowledge. The practise is thought to involve the use of charms or spells to control the victim’s actions or movements, allowing the perpetrator to have sex with them against their will.
According to reports, the police arrived quickly after being alerted by the school’s caretakers and took Zimunya to Mutare Central Police Station. Despite being questioned, Zimunya refused to answer any media questions.
Zimunya is also not new to the mubobobo game, according to reports. He has been caught in the act in several locations throughout Mutare in broad daylight. Thigh vendors at Moto-Moto in the Central Business District are among his alleged targets. Because he is a taxi driver and a well-known gambler, some believe mubobobo is part of his luck-enhancing charms.
According to Jealous Mufundisi, a caretaker at Mutare Girls’ High School, Zimunya’s car was parked at the school gate, where the girls noticed him while he was busy gratifying himself. He believes Zimunya and other men like him are ritualists who sexually abuse young girls.
Mufundisi stated,
“The girls caught him in the act and alerted us.” We dashed over to where he’d parked his car and found him occupied with his mubobobo. He wore nothing underneath his morning gown except a T-shirt. The girls claimed to have witnessed him playing with his manhood while staring at them.
“We witnessed a nearly identical incident last week.” At the same gate and position, we caught a man in the act. When we questioned him, he stated that four other people came and performed the same act while staring at the children.
“I am convinced that these men are ritualists because how can someone drive all the way to a school to commit this heinous act?” They are abusing the vulnerable girls here.”
Mr. Edson Mapungwana, Mutare District Schools Inspector, could not comment on the matter because he was still awaiting permission from his superior to speak to the media.
