After years of being rejected by women due to his height, Kwoyela Derick, a 39-year-old teacher in Bamenda, Cameroon, has finally found a life partner.
Derick, also known as DK, is from Bali Nyonga in Cameroon’s Northwest Region and met his girlfriend, Kahboh Patience, 28, in January 2022.
The teacher told MMI that he adores Patience and wants her to be the mother of his children.

“I was drawn to her character. “She is ideal because she respects me and is also God-fearing,” he said.
They live in a society that is “intolerant” of individuals like Derick. Most people will not want to associate with him, let alone marry him, he revealed to MMI.
His relationship with Kahboh Patience has passed several testimonies from detractors.
“One of our biggest challenges came when we were planning to marry. “Her friends and some close to her were complaining and asking why she was marrying a short man like me,” Derick explained.
Despite the stereotypes, they both remained in love and are planning their wedding.
“I have promised to take good care of my wife. I want our story to be an inspiration to everyone, especially those who have given up on love. “There is a chance for us all, and someone special,” he said.
Their traditional wedding has been scheduled for April 6, 2023, in Bali Nyonga, while their white wedding will take place on the same day.
Patience, a seamstress by trade, stated that she is willing to stand by her man “for better or for worse.”
