The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, on Sunday, underlined that its supporters won’t back down on their scheduled countrywide rally until the Independent National Election Commission provides LP’s attorney’s access to evidence from the contested February 25 presidential election.
Controversies had trailed the outcome of the presidential election where the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party flag bearer, who got 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.
Dissatisfied with the outcome, both Obi and Atiku sought the election tribunal to request permission to investigate the electoral materials used during the elections.
Several days later, the Court of Appeal in Abuja acceded to their demands for scrutiny of the election materials but the commission failed to provide the warring parties access.
The news is coming four days after INEC got a court order to reconfigure the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System machines ahead of the March 18 governorship and states Assembly elections.
But the top spokesperson for Obi campaign council, Yunusa Tanko, claimed there was no turning back on mobilizing their supporters to seize INEC offices countrywide.
Tanko accused INEC of breaching the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to provide Obi and the party access to the certified genuine copies of documents utilized in the conduct of the vote.

“We didn’t pick a date for the demonstration because we purposely wanted to allow INEC up until Monday to react to us first.
“But when they (INEC) fail to do what they are supposed to do, our people will hit the streets, with the grace of God. There is no turning back,” he remarked.
When approached for comments on whether INEC is prepared to agree to the request of Obi’s legal team, the Chief Public Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, rejected the comment.
In a similar vein, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said he was unsure whether the LP had written the police to that effect.
He, however, promised to get back to our reporter.
As of the time of reporting this article, the police spokesperson has not offered input on their response to the planned demonstration.
