A Nigerian national and his companion were apprehended with 60 grammes of mephedrone, a synthetic narcotic, in Hyderabad, India.
Chukwuemeka and Sohail Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Shaik were apprehended on Friday, May 26, 2023, after arriving in Hyderabad from Mumbai, according to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Ramana Reddy.
Sixty sachets of the stimulant substance, each containing one gramme, were recovered. According to investigators, each gramme of the substance was selling for 8,000.
Police apprehended Sohail at Nampally train station after receiving a tip. Chukwuemeka was apprehended at Lakdikapul with 20 grammes of mephedrone, based on the clues he provided.
“Chukwuemeka completed his MBA in Nigeria.” “He later came to India on a business visa and was doing food supply business in Mumbai before getting into drug sales,” police added.
According to police, Sohail owns a footwear store in Mumbra, Thane district. The pair travelled to Hyderabad to deliver the medication to buyers.
“We will question them further and search their phones to determine who their suppliers in Mumbai are and who their customers in Hyderabad are,” a police official said.
He claimed that the suspects arrived in Hyderabad via train with the drugs.
According to authorities, Chukwuemeka became involved in the selling of drugs in Mumbai’s Kharghar region because his income from the food supply business was insufficient. He obtained the drugs through his Nigerian colleagues.
It was discovered that the Nigerian pals are drug sellers in the Khargar, Taluja, and Vashi districts.
