NFL legend Ray Lewis’ son, Ray Lewis III, dies at 28

Ray Lewis III, a former collegiate football player and the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, died at the age of 28.

 

Rahsaan Lewis, Lewis’ younger brother, announced the news on social media.
“Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother,” read the tribute posted to his verified Instagram account’s story.

The reason of death for Lewis III has not been disclosed.

In Florida, Lewis III attended Lake Mary Prep High School. He continued his football career at the University of Miami, Coastal Carolina, and Virginia Union.

 

Lewis, the younger, was a running back in his home state of Florida before going on to play cornerback at Coastal Carolina and Division II Virginia Union.

“Great young man and an even better teammate,” Virginia Union associate head coach Diego Ryland said to TMZ Sports.

“The entire Virginia Union University community is praying for the family as they mourn Ray’s passing,” he continued.

Ray Lewis, 48, was a member of the Baltimore Ravens from 1996 to 2012. He retired as a two-time Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl 35 MVP, two-time defensive player of the year, and seven-time first-team All-Pro. In 2018, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
