A mother has been detained after allegedly hacking her five-year-old kid to death with a machete and cooking and eating part of his head.
According to local Egyptian media, the arrest was made after the boy’s shocked uncle discovered body parts in buckets at the boy’s home in Abu Shalabi, Egypt.
Officers were taken aback when the defendant, Hanaa, confessed to eating a portion of her son’s head because she “wanted him to stay with her forever.”
The terrified kid was reportedly slain with four hits to the head before being butchered in the bathroom by the 29-year-old.

Then she allegedly fried his head and other bits of his flesh on the stove in boiling water before consuming them.
She told authorities in Faqous, Ash Sharqiyah Governorate, that she “suffers from a mental illness” and did not mean to harm her kid.
Youssef, the victim, had been living alone after her divorce from her husband, who maintains she knew exactly what she was doing.
“When I arrived,” the ex-husband, named only as H.A., told local media, “the police prevented me from seeing my son because of the horrific scene.”

“We separated four years ago because she had land from her father and asked me to leave the house and my family and go with her to live on the land,” he added.
“But I refused, and the relationship ended entirely by her will, and I tried to reconcile with her after the divorce, but she refused and stuck to her opinion.”
“My son was the one who kept me connected to her, and I used to see him on a regular basis and bring him clothes and things he needed,” H.A. added.
“However, she was recently attempting to keep him away from me by instilling enmity in his heart, so he wouldn’t come to me.
“I was trying to communicate with her family to see if I could see my son and make sure he was okay.”
According to his lawyer, Samir Mohamed Saleh, the suspect was expressionless when she told her interrogators, “I wanted to free him and myself.”
“I wanted to exact vengeance on his father and be free.” His father keeps showing up and attempting to take him away.”
In a statement, the Public Prosecution Office stated that the suspect had been held and that she may be of sound mind, but that will be determined by a mental health assessment.
