Antony, the Manchester United winger, has spoken out for the first time since his ex partner accused him of domestic violence and threats.

Gabriela Cavallin, a DJ and influencer in Brazil, filed a police report earlier this month citing ‘domestic violence, threat, and bodily assault’ against the 23-year-old winger.

In a televised appearance with Record TV, she made additional charges, stating she fought to breathe when ‘he gripped me by both arms, flung me on the bed, and collapsed on top of me.’

Cavallin also claimed Antony refused to let her leave their home.

The athlete has now responded to the charge on his Instagram account, claiming that he was ‘falsely accused’ and that he has been’suffering in silence’ while the investigation is ongoing.

‘For you, after filing my statement at the police station where my name is being investigated, I decided to speak publicly for the first time since I was wrongly accused of assault,’ he wrote.

‘I remained mute until this point so that nothing would interfere with the investigation, but my family and I suffered in silence for all of these days.

‘Despite being born and reared in a very poor town, I have never been in a position where a false assault complaint led in a hasty and unfair public judgement on the side of individuals.

‘After the end of the investigation, my innocence will undoubtedly be confirmed and justice will prevail. The first harm done to my image will be forgotten.

‘Thank you for the numerous words of support received during this difficult time.’
