A man is set to go on trial for allegedly putting his penis in the beak of a seagull, causing significant pain to the bird, gistpeople reports
On Friday, February 17, David Lee appeared in South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in England, charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The bizarre crime is said to have occurred on Thursday, August 18, 2022, in Sunderland.
According to prosecutors, Lee, 39, “unreservedly did an act [where] he took a wild bird, forced it down, and placed his penis in its mouth, causing unnecessary suffering to that animal.”

According to Chronicle Live, Lee has entered a not guilty plea. He was granted unconditional bail until his trial, which was scheduled for a later date.

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and the Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 protect all gull species.

It is unlawful to intentionally or recklessly injure or kill any gull, or to damage or destroy an active nest or its contents.
Intentionally killing or injuring a seagull is a crime, and offenses against wildlife can result in a fine of up to £5,000 or, in extreme cases, a prison sentence.
