A guy was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison for m*sturbating to’animal porn’ while cradling a young seagull.
According to Mail Online, David Lee snatched the fledgling seagull and brought it into a back lane in Sunderland before taking his trousers down and masturbating with the bird between his legs.
The 40-year-old was then apprehended at a local eatery, where he claimed to be assisting the young gull by looking up a vet on his phone.
However, police then learned Lee had been watching ‘animal porn’ throughout the event, which was captured on a CCTV camera owned by a local neighbor.
Magistrates at South Tyneside Magistrate’s Court sentenced the 40-year-old to a 24-week prison sentence and barred him from owning animals for ten years.
Lee, of Roker Avenue, Sunderland, previously admitted causing the herring gull needless distress during the incident, which occurred about 1am near Gladstone Street in Sunderland.
Lee, a strong drinker with an unstable personality problem, was described as putting his phone on a box in the alleyway before engaging in a sex act with the seagull and then kicking the baby bird away.
Prosecutor Lesley Burgess stated, ‘This was a planned and gratuitous conduct that inflicted misery.’
‘The defendant goes down the street trying to pursue a seagull,’ she added of the event.
‘The video then cuts to a back alley, where we see the defendant holding a separate, younger baby gull.
‘The defendant then takes his phone from his pocket and places it on a box.
‘He then removes his trousers, kneels, and it is evident that he is masturbating. He then shifts the gull between his legs.
‘At one point, the defendant engages in a sexual act with the baby seagull.’
According to Ms Burgess, after he finished, Lee put the bird down, gave it a’small kick’ to shoo it away, and walked away in the opposite direction.
He attempted to convince authorities that he found the bird and picked it up because it was injured, and that he used his phone to locate a veterinarian.
Ms Burgess, on the other hand, stated that ‘police confiscated the phone and it was pretty evident he was downloading animal porn at the time.’
Ms. Burgess stated that the crown acquired expert testimony from a veterinarian who stated that the footage demonstrated that “the bird will have been caused unnecessary suffering by the defendant’s act.”
‘For almost a year, the activities of this person have caused me a lot of mental anguish and concern,’ the woman who saw the offence on her CCTV said in a victim statement read to the court.
‘What he did still haunts me. I can’t get his heinous conduct out of my mind.
‘I truly hope today’s punishment provides justice for the bird he defiled as well as for those like myself who were traumatized when they witnessed what he did, and that it serves as a warning to anyone else who believes animal abuse is acceptable.’
Defending attorney Annalisa Moscardini claimed Lee was a heavy drinker who had blackouts.
‘He believes he must have committed this crime, but he doesn’t have a clear recollection of it,’ she explained, explaining his first denials. He can’t explain what happened to a certain extent.’
According to a psychological report, he had an unstable personality disorder and was disconnected from reality.
According to the court, he was also a pathological liar whose lies served no purpose.
The bench’s chairman, Angela Thompson, stated, ‘We believe this to be an intentional attempt to cause misery, and a high amount of anguish was produced.’
