Celine Dion, a Canadian singer, has cancelled her Courage international tour while she battles a neurological condition.
The singer, 55, had already postponed her scheduled gigs after publicly revealing in December that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.
Celine announced on Instagram on Friday, May 26, that she has cancelled her world tour, adding that she is ‘working incredibly hard to build back her strength.’
‘It is with enormous sorrow that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour,’ she stated, posting an image of her cancelled tour dates.
‘I’m so sorry to disappoint you all yet again. I’m working hard to regain my strength, but even when you’re at your peak, travelling can be exhausting.
‘It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the events, and even though it pains my heart, it’s better that we cancel everything now until I’m truly ready to return to the stage.
‘I want you to know that I’m not giving up…’ and I’m looking forward to seeing you again!’

Celine also posted an image of the complete list of tour dates that had been cancelled, which included gigs in France, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, and the United Kingdom, as well as a statement breaking the news.
‘We do have every hope that sometime soon, Celine will be able to come to all of these places in Europe to play for her fantastic fans, but that time simply is not now,’ the statement continued.
Celine’s Facebook page was inundated with words of support from her admirers, who urged her to take as much time as she needed for her health.
‘We love you Celine, take excellent care of yourself, your health is the most important and precious thing,’ one commented. We are hoping for your recovery.’
Another said, ‘We miss you!’ We preserve our hope in your recovery,’ while a third posted: ‘We simply need you to take excellent care of yourself. The only thing that matters is your health.’
‘You have never disappointed us,’ one added. You had dedicated so many years to providing us with memorable memories and wonderful tunes! It’s only a matter of time before we see you back on stage, and we’re waiting with all the patience you’ll need to heal… praying for your recovery!’
The Because You Loved Me singer disclosed in December that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological illness.
The disorder, which affects one in a million individuals and causes her muscles to contract involuntarily, eventually renders sufferers into ‘human statues’ as it gradually locks the body into rigid positions, rendering sufferers unable to walk or talk.
While there is no cure for SPS, there are therapies that can delay the progression, and Celine stated that she is doing everything she can to reduce symptoms.
