The Third Mainland Bridge will be closed on Sunday (today) so that the Lagos State Government can start fixing the bridge’s peeling portions.
This information was released in a statement on Saturday by Dr Frederick Oladeinde, the commissioner of transportation, who also noted that the exercise would span from 9 am to 4 pm.
According to the notification that the Lagos State Public Works Corporation is prepared to fix the Third Mainland Bridge’s identified failed/peeled asphaltic sections, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan for the rehabilitation process, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 2, 2023, between 9 am and 4 pm.
Lagos government reroutes traffic for APC rallies “Traffic will be rerouted from one lane to another at the identified failed asphaltic sections on the bridge and this is expedient to solve tailbacks along the bridge at the peak times as a result of the failed sections,” according to the statement.
“I also want to reassure the public that the state’s traffic management authority will be fully present on the scene to direct traffic to lessen the inconveniences, and we implore motorists to have patience as the measures taken are intended to provide everyone with high-quality and safe road infrastructure.”
The commissioner also warned the military, the police, and all other security agencies in the state against disobeying traffic laws and regulations on the state’s roads and highways, stating that any negligent officers who were discovered have done so would going forward be reported to the appropriate formation.
