Over two years after the incident, video of a jilted wife running over her husband and his mistress was leaked online.
The CCTV footage shows Christie-Lee Kennedy ramming her white BMW SUV into her husband David Larkin and his companion Zowie Noring in Queensland, Australia.
Kennedy is then seen getting out of her car and hitting Noring in the head.
While the video was just recently made public, it was used as evidence in a court case that held Australians fascinated for months.
Before the white SUV arrives, the footage shows Larkin and Noring locked in an embrace on a quiet street in March 2021.
The court heard how Kennedy used an app to find her cheating husband before the attack after he allegedly told her he was picking up their children from daycare. During the trial, Kennedy maintained that she had not intended to hit the victims with her automobile and had merely pressed the brakes too late.
Kennedy’s explanation was accepted by the jury last month, and she was found not guilty on two counts of “malicious acts with intent to disable.”
Meanwhile, on the same footage, Kennedy can be seen exiting her vehicle following the incident and attacking Noring, yanking her hair and striking her in the head.
In court, a man who lives on the block where the incident occurred stated:
“I heard the thud from inside, and the TV was turned up, and you could hear ‘bang,'” Scummy explained. “I picked up the phone, called the ambos [ambulance], and my boy chased that girl down the road.”
Last month, Judge Paul Smith agreed to sentence Kennedy to nine months in prison for two offenses: unsafe operation of a vehicle and common assault. Both sentences were commuted. She will not be imprisoned.
“I think it’s fair to conclude that you’d be quite surprised by what you saw there, regardless of your prior suspicions,” the judge remarked.
“You’re obviously an excellent employee and a very good mother, and it’s a real shame you committed this offense, but I do form a firm view that this offending is out of character, and it’s unlikely you’ll reoffend with anything like this,” Judge Smith stated.
Kennedy was sentenced to pay $5,000 to each victim; she was given two weeks to pay each party or risk a month in jail.
Kennedy’s driving privileges were also suspended for nine months.
Kennedy’s ex-husband David Larkin and Zowie Noring have become an official pair and are going to marry.
