The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, stated on Sunday that recent events in Nigeria have demonstrated that Igbos are not welcome in the country.
The treatment of Igbos, according to IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful, is unfair.
Security forces allowed Shi’ites to protest peacefully in Aba, Abia State, but attacked its members.
Recently, a combined security team in Aba allegedly killed several IPOB sympathizers protesting for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
“We are surprised that the Nigerian government and its security agencies, particularly their army and police, allowed the Shiite Islamic group who protested peacefully twice in Abuja to do so without humiliation or attack, but murdered IPOB members who were protesting peacefully in Aba, Abia State for demanding the unconditional release of their leader, KANU, on April 3rd, 2023,” Powerful said in a statement.
“It is now established that Ndigbo are not wanted in Nigeria as a result of the hatred shown to us.” We must immediately organize ourselves and leave Nigeria for the other nationalities who are free to operate in Nigeria.”
He stated that the Nigerian government’s actions demonstrated that Igbos were not welcome in the country.
