A 20-year-old woman was reportedly slain by a homeowner in Hebron, New York, when her vehicle backed into his driveway on Saturday night.
Kevin D. Monahan, 65, was recognised as the homeowner by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Kaylin A. Gillis, the deceased, was murdered after Monahan “fired at least two shots” at the vehicle, and she was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene when cops arrived.
Part of the statement read:
“It was discovered during the preliminary investigation that the victim’s vehicle was mistakenly pulled into the driveway at the Patterson Hill Road address.”

“Monahan refused to leave his home to speak with police and was uncooperative with the investigation.” After several hours, he was apprehended with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operation Response Team.”
Monahan has been charged with second-degree murder. At a press conference on Monday, April 17, Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy stated that Gillis was riding in the vehicle with three other passengers seeking for a friend’s residence when the event occurred.
“It’s a very rural area, there’s dirt roads, there’s not a lot of cellular services or any type of internet,” Murphy explained, noting that the group had driven up Monahan’s driveway “in error.”
According to the police investigation, the group drove away from the property after shots were fired and then dialled 911 when they arrived in the adjacent city of Salem.
“This is a very sad case of some young adults who were looking for a friend’s house and ended up at this man’s house who decided to come out with a firearm and discharged,” Murphy said, adding that the department’s investigation is still in its early stages.
