Grimes, 35, is suing her ex-husband, Elon Musk, 52, for parental rights to their three children.
This comes only weeks after she urged Musk to let her see their young boy and stated that she had yet to see a photo of their children.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, filed a “petition to establish parental relationship” in a California court on September 29.
When both parents are unmarried, a parental rights petition is used to determine who the child’s legal parents are.
The 35-year-old Canadian musician has yet to pursue child support or custody rights.
Grimes had previously claimed in a now-deleted tweet to Shivon Zilis, who gave birth to Elon Musk’s twins via IVF, “Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer.”
“I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”
Zilis works for Musk’s Neuralink startup. According to court filings, she gave birth to Musk’s twins last November but has not publicly stated that the two are romantically involved.
Grimes and Musk started dating in 2018 and had three kids together. Their first child, X A-Xii, was born in May 2020.
Exa Dark Siderael, called Y, was born by surrogate in December 2021, the same year the parents divorced.
The former couple’s secret third son, Techno Mechanicus, was revealed last month.
Musk had 11 children, one of whom died. He now has ten children.
Musk and his first wife, Justine Wilson, have twins Gryphon and Vivian Musk, 18, and triplets Kai, Jaxon, and Damian Musk, 16. Nevada, the couple’s son, died at 10 weeks of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 2000.
Following the encounter, Musk said on the social networking platform X, “Having children is saving the world.”
Musk also brought son X with him when he met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Turkish House in New York on Sept. 17, before of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
