
Ryan Mallett, a former NFL quarterback, died at the age of 35.
The third-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft drowned in Florida and was confirmed deceased at a nearby hospital.
Mallett was a standout recruit out of Texas High in Texarkana, where he was recognized as one of the top signal callers in his class. He went on to play collegiately for the Michigan Wolverines and Arkansas Razorbacks from 2007 to 2010, finishing sixth in Heisman Trophy votes in 2010.

He was selected All-SEC second team in 2009 and 2010 and was the offensive MVP of the Liberty Bowl in 2010.
The NFL standout was also the 74th overall pick in 2011 by the New England Patriots, where he served as Tom Brady’s backup for three seasons.
