In a single dubbed ‘Yakubu’, the rappers attacked the chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for alleged malpractices that typified the polls.

Published Thursday, the song highlighted the broken promise made by the commission to broadcast the results of the elections in real-time through its result viewing online, known as the IReV portal.

The pair also sang about the allegations of violence, voter intimidation, logistical issues, ballot box theft, and other occurrences that plagued the 2023 general election.

“Mr Yakubu! Ę ma ń se bi fraudster (you act like a fraudster)/ you don’t want to thrive / Come and collect oscar/ 300 billion te gbà lówó ìjoba, kí le fi se ná sir (what did you do with the 300 billion got from the government),” Falz rapped in the opening verse of the song.

Falz is no stranger to politically aware and humorous songs directed at the government. The National Broadcasting Corporation banned his smash song ‘This is Nigeria’ from airways in August 2018.

The single, which copied American Rapper, Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America,’ was labelled “vulgar” and “unfit for radio” owing to a lyric in the song that said, “This is Nigeria/ See how we live now/ Everyone be criminal.”
