The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday seized the amount of N32,400 million purportedly believed to be used for vote buying in Lagos State.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, said that the recovery was achieved by operatives of the Lagos zonal command of the agency
He said that the individual implicated has been brought into jail for further interrogation.
It was stated that the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has exhorted all officials of the commission deployed for election monitoring responsibilities to exhibit bravery and not provide a way for unscrupulous people to compromise the integrity of the polls by cash enticement.
Uwujaren continued, “Tactical teams of operatives are now on the ground in all the states of the federation and the FCT.
“Telephone hotlines have already been spread via social media for members of the public to provide information on financial malpractices with agents of the commission. Details of the number are accessible on EFCC’s social media sites.
“Members of the public are urged to report anybody attempting to purchase or sell votes by making use of the EFCC financial crimes reporting App, Eagle Eye, which is available for download on the Google Play or Apple store
