To protect locals during the Easter holiday, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command claimed to have fortified places of worship and distributed personnel and resources around the territory.
SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokeswoman, stated in a statement on Friday.
She pointed out that the deployment, which includes all tactical and intelligence resources available to the command, was motivated by the necessity to address security issues plaguing the nation’s capital.
According to Adeh, “The deployment is characterized by strengthened police-community relationships towards intelligence gathering, visibility policing at all places of worship and social gatherings, stop and search duty, intelligence-led raids on “hot spots,” highway and border patrol, aggressive vehicular/foot patrol, and surveillance, inter-agency cooperation, and various other things.
In light of the foregoing, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police Sadiq Abubakar wishes to reassure the territory’s citizens of the command’s unflinching commitment to safeguarding their safety and well-being throughout the Easter holiday and beyond.
Abubakar urged locals to partake in the celebration with Christians throughout the world while embracing peace in the spirit of the holiday.
Senior officers from all units and formations of the command were briefed by Abubakar on the operation order, and he instructed the officers to make sure that nothing is overlooked as they carried out their duty with international best practices and respect for human rights.
