Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Jada Pinkett Smith’s drama appears to stretch much beyond the notorious Oscars slap in 2022.
Jada Pinkett Smith, an actress, TV host, and producer, stated in her new biography, “Worthy,” that Rock, 58, took her out on a date a few years before the Oscars slap, amid rumours she was divorcing Will, 55.
Jada, 52, told People magazine ahead of the book’s release:
“I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce.”
“And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce,” she went on to say. “He called and basically said, ‘I’d love to take you out.'”
“And I asked, ‘What do you mean?'” ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ he said. ‘No,’ I said. Those are simply rumours, Chris.’ “He was shocked,” Jada recounted.
“And he profusely apologised and that was that.”

Rock made a joke about Pinkett Smith’s clean-shaven head at the Oscars last year in 2022.
Rock laughed when giving an award during the event, adding he couldn’t wait to see the actress in “G.I. Jane 2.”
Will Smith, who was seated next to his wife at the time, then walked over to the creator of “Everybody Hates Chris” on stage and hit him in front of millions of viewers.
