Mr Charles Oputa, also known as ‘Charly Boy,’ has urged Nigerian youths to remain calm and not overreact to INEC’s 2023 election results, gistpeople reports
Oputa made the announcement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday at Abuja’s Unity Fountain.
The entertainer, speaking in response to a gathering of some young people at the Unity Fountain, stated that they were there to protest the alleged bogus election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Young people are gathering to protest the situation and bogus elections that have just been concluded.
“As Area Father, I’m just here to make sure everything is in order and that they’re doing the right thing.”
I believe in what they’re doing and am here to support them.
“The election result is the most bogus, annoying, and financial disaster in terms of the money wasted by the Federal Government,” he said.
According to him, we cannot afford to be seen as overreacting because we know how the enemies will use that against us, so we need to use our heads.
Oputa was pleased with the conduct of Nigerian youths during the electoral process.
Mr Isaac Balami, the peaceful walk’s organizer, stated that the gathering was held to protest the results of the 2023 presidential election released by INEC.
He claimed that INEC had violated the code and the peace agreement reached by political parties by failing to deliver on its promises.
Balami attributed the high voter turnout across the country to INEC’s promises that the election would be transparent and that their votes would be counted.
He claimed that INEC’s Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) went down in the middle of the election when it realized the APC was losing.
Balami stated that the lack of celebration of the APC victory across the country was an indication that the election result did not reflect the people’s choice.
