Ahmed Ammani, Commissioner of Police, stated that signing the pact demonstrated their sincere commitment to walking the path of peace.
He stated that the candidates and their party leaders followed the law in their electioneering activities before, during, and after the election.
The CP also stated that the political platforms signed an agreement that the 2023 election is not a do-or-die situation.
“In every contest of this type, there must be a winner and a loser. “Please keep in mind that this exercise is done in good faith and without any form of coercion,” he said.
The police chief advised winners to be gracious in defeat, while losers to be magnanimous in victory.
The CP went on to say that the police would work with the people of Enugu and other security agencies to keep the city safe.
Chukwuemeka Chukwu, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, told the gathering that the commission was doing everything possible to ensure peaceful elections.
