Chadwick Boseman, star of Black Panther, is poised to earn a posthumous plaque on the Hollywood Walk of Fame three years after passing away from colon cancer at the age of 43.
The American actor, best known for his role as the superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) from 2016 to 2019, was announced as one of the personalities whose names will be inscribed on the historic site in 2024.
Michelle Yeoh, Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Christina Ricci, Ken Jeong, Kerry Washington, Gwen Stefani and Eugene Levy, Mario Lopez, and Sheryl Lee Ralph will also reach the milestone next year.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Selection Panel made the announcement in a press release.
‘Each year, the Selection Committee, which is made up of fellow Walk of Famers, meticulously hand-picks a group of honorees that represent diverse genres of the entertainment world,’ said Ellen K, Chair of the Walk of Fame, in a press statement.
‘The Committee did a fantastic job identifying these extremely outstanding people,’ she concluded. We can’t wait to see each honoree’s response as they learn they are becoming a part of Hollywood history by having their star unveiled on the world’s most iconic walkway!’
Aside from Black Panther, Boseman has appeared in films such as 42, Marshall, Get on Up, and Draft Day.
According to his family, he was diagnosed with stage three cancer in 2016 and underwent ‘countless operations and chemotherapy’ in his battle with the disease.
