The leader of the Biafra Nations League, Princewill Chimezie Richard, has given the Nigerian federal government 14 days to release Nnamdi Kanu.
The organization threatens to halt oil exploration along Nigeria’s and Cameroon’s coastal borders.
It has also given the Nigerian government the same deadline to evacuate military forces from the South-East zone.
They also urged on Cameroonian officials to “stop forcing and collecting proliferated taxes from Nigerians living in the Bakassi Peninsula” at a news conference in Calabar.
“We want to use this medium to reiterate our decision to close maritime borders if our demands are not met within 14 days, effective May 8, 2022,” Richard added.
He said that BnL had the assistance of other organizations.
“We are capable of accomplishing anything.” We are unable to disclose the breadth of our capability.
“You should know that we have a large number of loyalists and followers, even among the natives.” If our demands are not met, the consequences will be terrible.”
He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to release Kanu before he surrenders on May 29, 2023, and to quit being obstinate in defying court rulings.
“We are disappointed and have lost faith in Buhari’s administration.”
“I don’t have faith in Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will succeed Buhari.” I’ve never met him.
“Even if Kanu is released, our struggle for Biafra sovereignty will continue.” We are demanding safety and independence from Nigeria. We never had faith in Nigeria.
“BnL is not fighting alone in this battle. There will be no bargaining over Biafra.”
According to the group, Nigerian authorities should not push them to take laws into their own hands.
