Sheree Spencer, a 45-year-old mother of three, punched, kicked, slapped, and bit her husband Richard during a series of ‘nasty’ attacks that left him terrified and trapped.

She screamed ‘p****’ at him every day while beating him and forcing him to clean up her feces.

Spencer, a prison security guard, was sentenced at Hull Crown Court after permanently disfiguring her partner’s ear and damaging his laptops, phones, and clothes.

Before sentencing her, Judge Kate Rayfield told her that the abuse of her husband was ‘the worst case of controlling and coercive behaviour I have seen’.

Spencer received an indefinite restraining order against her victim in addition to a prison sentence.

Spencer was seen smiling as she left the dock to be taken down to the cells, despite her sentence.

Spencer admitted coercive and controlling behavior from January 2016 to June 2021, as well as three assaults on her husband resulting in actual bodily harm between January and April 2020.

Prosecutor Michele Stuart-Lofthouse stated that the couple had been together since 2000 and lived in Bubwith, near Selby, in the United Kingdom at the time. They are the parents of three young children.

Spencer continued to ‘exert control’ over Richard during Family Court hearings even after she was arrested, claiming she was the victim.

Spencer admitted in court that he had to seek help from his doctor on several occasions.

Videos shown in court showed ‘consistent, nasty physical and emotional abuse,’ sometimes multiple times per day.

Spencer ‘cowered on his hands and knees on the floor at times’ while being threatened and assaulted.

According to the court, his wife had “utter contempt for him” and “whispered in his face in the most sinister way” at times.
