The heated exchange occurred during an interview at Kiss FM, where Omondi had been invited by the station’s new host, Sheila Kwamboka (popularly known as Kwambox), who had recently replaced Kamene Goro.

Omondi, visibly enraged, rose from his seat and was about to go for Obinna’s jugular when the two were separated by those in the room.

According to sources, even as Kwambox was arranging for the comedian to appear on the popular show, Obinna was opposed to him coming to the studio.

According to the latter, Omondi is unworthy of an interview because he only insults musicians and other comedians.

“Obinna had even threatened to quit if Eric didn’t show up for the interview,” the source said.

Obinna and Eric Omondi’s feud began when Obinna objected to Kwambox’s decision to interview the comedian.

Eric was accompanied by bodyguards, which he insists a president must have for security reasons.

The argument began when Obinna told Eric Omondi to stop hiding behind the mask of comedy and come out openly as gay.

“If you have a point to prove just come out, its a safe space. Stop hiding in a hole because everyone knows you’re there. Just come out and tell people, listen guys, I’m fluid or something,” Obinna said.

Eric hurled his phone at him and pounced as his bodyguards intervened before the presenter could finish his point.

Shortly before the physical altercation, the two had a heated argument, with Obinna accusing Eric of doing nothing in the comedy industry.

Obinna dismissed Eric, calling his title as “President of African Comedy” into question. He stated that Eric Omondi has only gone on village tours in Uganda.

“Apart from calling yourself the president of comedy… when was the last time you did a proper comedy show? Zero! You are constantly referred to as “Ushago za Uganda.” Eric was challenged by Obinna.

He defended himself by stating that, in comparison to Obinna, he has visited over 17 venues in Kenya and Uganda for tours and performances.
