The Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded to the recent brutal assaults on his supporters by alleged thugs in Lagos State.
Obi decried every kind of violence and political thuggery and the constant assaults on his ‘Obedient’ followers.

Earlier this morning it was reported that Suspected political thugs had assaulted supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Lagos State.
It was said that the development was coming on the heels of the Obi/Datti huge rally that took place at the Tafawa Belewa Square, TBS, Lagos.
According to several victims, the suspects caused machete wounds on folks, destroyed their vehicles, and grabbed their phones and other stuff for allegedly wearing garments containing the Labour party insignia.
The spokesman for the LP presidential campaign council, Dr Aliyu Tanko confirmed the issue in a chat by stating “the ObiDent Movement is under assault in Lagos, they are keeping our people from going to the TBS protest.
Nothing can halt a movement whose time has arrived. Security officers take notice. We keep marching Obidently and Yusfully.”
Peter Obi’s statement was featured in a message through his verified Twitter account on Saturday.
Obi called on the security forces nationally to safeguard persons exercising their basic rights of free expression and assembly.

He stated, “As we head into the last stretch for the 2023 elections, I implore all Nigerians regardless of political affiliation or disposition, to reject violence. I deplore any type of violence and political thuggery; particularly the continual assaults on my Obedient followers.
“I urge the security forces countrywide to defend those exercising their basic rights of free speech and assembly. Our civic space must not decrease further.”
