Seun stated this in a trending video shared on his Instagram page to address his alleged support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate.

Seun, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, claimed he was “young and naive” when he campaigned for Tinubu, then-governor of Lagos.

“I campaigned for Tinubu in 1999 because I knew him through my late father,” he explained. I was involved in Yoruba politics. Yoruba would be free of Nigeria because I was a fool back then. I was in my early twenties. I trusted what I could see.

“I didn’t stay in that position of privilege thinking, yes, I’ve arrived because I know Tinubu. I continued to study, learn, and grow in my political awareness.

“If truly we are all looking for the best way to be, then we must continue in a certain way to work and be better knowledgeable. As I continued to research, the more evidence I discovered that these politicians were not who they claimed to be.

“I walked away as soon as I realized what was going on there was false and selfish because it no longer matched my political consciousness.”
