A 33-year-old asylum seeker was charged with the r3pe of a lady in Skegness, Lincolnshire, 40 days after arriving in the UK in a boat from the Channel.

According to The Sun, the girl claims she was pulled into the bushes by a stranger and attacked.

A spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police said, ‘Officers were called to the Tower Gardens area of Skegness just after 10.40pm on Friday, June 9 to a report of a sexual assault.’

The offender was denied bail at a magistrates court hearing today and is now awaiting his first crown court appearance.

Investigators are understood to be looking into whether he has any past convictions before coming to the UK.

Skegness MP Matt Warman described the revelations as “hugely shocking,” adding that they “understandably raised a number of significant concerns.”

He did, however, add, ‘I would beg that people resist the understandable desire to speculate on this matter.’

Lincs Police said the investigation is still ongoing and that specialised officers are assisting the victim.

Investigators are asking witnesses or anybody who was in the Tower Gardens area of Skegness between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday, June 9, who may have information that will help with their investigations to contact them.
