Barcelona condemns Nigerian basketball player James Nnaji’s r*cist ab*se.
Barcelona has criticised racist comments directed at Nigerian basketball player James Nnaji during their Spanish basketball championship final triumph over arch rivals Real Madrid.
The event occurs while Spanish football grapples with the global outcry created by bigotry directed towards Real Madrid’s Brazilian footballer Vinicius Jr.
On Tuesday, June 20, video of the FC Barcelona bus arriving at the WiZink venue in Madrid, where the match was held, showed some Madrid fans screaming abuses at the Barcelona players.
Racist slurs were hurled at Nnaji, according to local media.

“I’d like to speak about what happened here with James Nnaji, which I believe is regrettable.” “I’ve heard a lot about Vinicius, and now it’s up to us to explain what’s going on,” Barcelona basketball coach Sarunas Jasikevicius said.
“It has to stop right now.” It doesn’t seem to match with the principles of Real Madrid and its supporters, and we must be very upset about it.”
Barcelona said in a statement made on Wednesday, June 21:
“FC Barcelona strongly condemns the racist taunts directed at first-team basketball player James Nnaji prior to game three of the final,” the club said.
“The club anticipates a strong reaction from the ACB (Spanish basketball league) to any racial or verbal insults.”
Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 93-82 in the Spanish league final on Tuesday after winning the previous two games.
