Quincy Promes, a former Netherlands international, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for attacking his cousin.
The 31-year-old forward, who plays for Russian club Spartak Moscow, was detained in December 2020 in connection with the July incident.
According to ESPN, a Dutch court found assault accusations against Promes to be substantiated, but no attempted murder or manslaughter.
He must compensate the victim with €7,000 [£5,973].
Promes is also being investigated in the Netherlands for possible narcotics trafficking.
He is suspected of importing 1,360 kg of cocaine to the Netherlands or Belgium in two separate shipments in 2020.
Promes, formerly of Ajax, rejected the charges, but the court found enough evidence from two eyewitnesses and intercepted phone calls to sentence him to prison.
Promes was stabbed in the leg during a family party at a warehouse in Abcoude after an argument over a stolen necklace.
He was playing for Ajax in the Netherlands at the time, but he moved to Spartak in February 2021.
The judge chastised Promes, who is presently in Russia, for failing to appear in court to defend himself or express regret.
If he had done so, his sentence would have been reduced by six months. Promes has the right to appeal his conviction.
Given his current location in Russia, it is uncertain whether Promes will be extradited to the Netherlands to serve his prison sentence.
According to NOS, there is no extradition treaty between Russia and the Netherlands, and it can only be requested if Promes’ appeal is unsuccessful.
However, due of the drug trafficking allegations, Promes would be arrested if he entered Europe or any nation with which the Netherlands has an extradition pact.
The Amsterdam native made 50 appearances for the Dutch national team, scoring seven goals.
