Boxer John Gotti III suspended for six months over role in Floyd Mayweather brawl

Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III will not fight again anytime soon because Gotti has been suspended for six months for his role in the post-fight violence.

The Florida State Athletic Commission has announced that Gotti would be suspended for six months for his involvement in an altercation with Mayweather and his team immediately following the match on Sunday, June 11 at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Gotti, the grandson of famed New York mobster John Gotti, was disqualified during the sixth round of the battle by referee Kenny Bayless. His disqualification was based on multiple instances of grabbing Mayweather. Gotti shoved aside the referee and charged at Mayweather, resulting in a chaotic situation in which both boxers’ entourages entered the ring and engaged in many physical altercations.

Despite the brawl, insiders informed TMZ that Gotti III and Mayweather “ended up hashing things out once cooler heads prevailed,” and that they are already discussing a rematch.

However, if they want to have the battle in Florida, they will have to wait until December.
