
This season’s ranking of the ten most innovative players in Europe has been announced.
According to FBref, Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is a more creative player than PSG forward Lionel Messi, who is leaving the club.
The data for the analysis was compiled based on the most shot-creating opportunities created by players this season.
Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann (158) is ranked tenth, while Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Stade Rennais’ Benjamin Bourigeaud are ranked ninth and eighth, respectively (161).

Martin Odegaard of Arsenal and Jonas Hofmann of Borussia Monchengladbach are tied for sixth (163).
Remy Cabella of LOSC Lille begins the top five (174), while Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (176) is a surprise fourth, as many expected the Belgian to be in the top three.
Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United came in third with 178 opportunities created.
Messi is second with 189 opportunities, and Fernandes is top with 219 opportunities.
