I sell the children between N1.4m and N1.5m – Woman arrested for operating baby factory

Akudo Azoroh, the woman detained for allegedly running a baby factory in Rivers State, admitted to police that she sells the children for between N1.4 and N1.5, depending on the gender.

LIB previously reported that operatives raided a child trafficking centre in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area, and rescued six young pregnant women.

The rescued women, aged 20 to 23, were camped with the idea of trading their kids after they were delivered.

Polycarp Nwonyi, the new State Commissioner of Police, claimed during his first media briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, May 31, that police detained Azoroh, the operator of the child trafficking centre, and her accomplice during the operation.

The suspect agreed to running the illicit business, but stated that she only distributes the kids to families without children and not to ritualists.

Mrs. Azoroh said that the young women were already pregnant when they came to her, and that she paid the girls anywhere between N800,000 and N900,000 depending on the stage of pregnancy at the time they came and the gender of the kid they delivered.

“I have previously given birth to six children, and I started the business three years ago.” I don’t have boyfriends that get the girls pregnant; they were already pregnant when they came to me,” she explained.

“I only give the babies to non-parental families, not to ritualists; I give them out for between N1.4 and N1.5 million, depending on the sex of the baby, and I pay their mothers off depending on the stage of pregnancy at the time they came.”
