President Biden announces COVID vaccine requirement for travelers to US will be scrapped on May 11

Next Wednesday, the US government will repeal mandatory vaccinations for federal employees and overseas travelers.

The Biden Administration stated Monday evening that these regulations will be phased out beginning May 11, when the Covid-related public health emergency ends.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced that the requirements for remaining instructors and federally supported health systems that are subject to conditions will be eliminated.

‘We are at a different phase of our response to Covid-19 than we were when many of these rules were enacted,’ said Biden’s administration in a statement.

‘These measures are no longer required,’ it went on.

The measures ultimately bring the United States in line with the rest of the globe.

Only a few countries, including Angola and Indonesia, still require visitors to have received a Covid vaccine in order to enter.

The White House presented statistics showing that Covid deaths have plummeted by 95 percent since January 2021, and hospitalizations have dropped by roughly 91 percent.

According to recent research, vaccines, while helpful in preventing illness and mortality, are not as efficient in preventing virus spread.

A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2022 discovered that after 25 weeks, the Pfizer vaccination provided recipients with only 9% protection against Omicron infection.

A booster dose increased this protection to 67 percent for two weeks before decreasing to 45 percent.

Experts have already criticized moves to maintain Covid-era rules as ‘out of step’ with the rest of the globe.
