Pastor arrested over death of four members who he asked to starve in order to ‘meet Jesus’

Charles Kamau, the Malindi sub-county’s criminal investigations chief, said of the preacher, “The pastor is under arrest after he surrendered because he knew we were looking for him.”

 

The pastor is being held, according to Kamau, before a Monday, April 17, court appearance.

 

On Saturday, searchers are anticipated to continue their efforts in the Shakahola forest amid rumors of a potential mass grave where further followers may have been interred.

 

According to the police investigation, “it is further suspected that there are numerous victims in the forest land thought to belong to the suspect.”

 

According to local media, Nthenge was detained and charged last month after two kids died of starvation while in their parents’ care. Later, he was freed after posting a bond of 700 Kenyan shillings ($100).
