The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has stated that the Federal Government has authorized a wage hike for government officials in the nation.
Ngige made this known on Wednesday night when he participated on Channels Television’s Politics Today show.

The minister said the wage augmentation became vital in light of the present economic realities of the nation, although adding that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has still to approve the percentage utilized for the increment.
This is as he emphasized that the wage hike was already included in the 2023 budget and will take effect from January 1, 2023.
“The Federal Government is looking at offering individuals in the public sector a pay hike to take care of the higher cost of living.
“In the Presidential Committee on Salaries, we have done something for the public workers for those who are on Consolidated Public Service Pay Structure and certain businesses, MDAs who are on the CONPSS. CONPSS is the compensation scale for public workers.
“We provided a percentage for the President to approve, we have authorized it at our own committee level. We stated it should take effect from January 1, 2023.”
