Maddie Macho, an employment influencer and job coach, stated that as an employee of the firm that owns Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp, she did little.

“When I was working at Meta and I was a recruiter, and we weren’t expected to hire anyone for the first six months, even the first year,” Maddie said in a TikTok video.

“They tell you this when you first start.”

“That completely blew my mind; I was like, perfect, I’ll just ride this out for a year.”

Maddie explained that she was undergoing the company’s “thorough” onboarding process during this time.

“We had a lot of team meetings.” Why are we getting together? We’re not hiring anyone!

“I was also on a team where everyone was new, so none of us hired anyone.” We were all just trying to figure out answers to questions that none of us had. I’d ask my boss, and she’d say, ‘I don’t know,’ because she was there as well.”

“I really miss it,” Maddie said. I wasn’t doing much of anything. That was very nice.”

This month, Meta announced another 10,000 job cuts across the company, as well as a hiring freeze.

In November, the tech behemoth, founded by Mark Zuckerberg, laid off an additional 11,000 employees.

The tough plans, according to Zuckerberg, are part of a “year of efficiency” at the company, which has seen its earnings fall in recent years.
