When she went to feed her neighbor’s two Great Danes while the owner was away, a 38-year-old Pennsylvania woman was mauled to death in front of her young son.

According to Perry County Coroner Robert Ressler, the incident occurred on Thursday, March 16, when two large dogs attacked Kristen Potter inside a neighbor’s home.

Potter was with her young son when she was killed by the dogs.

When he saw the dogs charging at his mother, he ran out to get help.
“He was there at the scene, but I don’t think he was there for much of it,” Ressler told WGAL. “As soon as he saw the dogs attacking his mother, he ran across the road and told his brother to call 911.”

According to the authorities, first responders and police officers were unable to reach the 38-year-old victim until animal control officers arrived and tranquilized the dogs.
The two dogs who attacked Potter were later euthanized at a veterinarian’s office.
According to Penn Live, Brandon Zeiders, whose fiancee is Potter’s sister, was told by state police that the two Great Danes were fighting and then turned on Potter when she intervened.
The incident left the dogs’ owner “heartbroken,” according to the outlet.
“I’m heartbroken, shocked, disbelieving, and I just want to die,” Wendy Sabathne said. “I still can’t believe it happened.”
